EMDR Therapy Online

Virtual EMDR Therapy for Trauma & Anxiety

Evidence-based Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — delivered through secure telehealth for clients in Florida, Texas, and Louisiana.

    What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — is an evidence-based psychotherapy developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s. It helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge. The American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs all recognize EMDR as an effective treatment for PTSD.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn't require you to discuss the trauma in detail or complete homework between sessions. Instead, brief sets of bilateral stimulation — guided eye movements, taps, or audio tones — help the brain integrate stuck memories the way it processes ordinary experiences.

    Does EMDR Work Online?

Yes. Research published since 2020 shows virtual EMDR produces outcomes comparable to in-person sessions for trauma and anxiety. In a telehealth session we use:

    • Guided on-screen visual bilateral stimulation
    • Self-administered butterfly hug or tapping
    • Audio tones through your headphones

Many clients find virtual EMDR more accessible — you process from the safety of your own space, and you don't have to drive home afterward.

    The 8 Phases of EMDR

EMDR follows a structured protocol. You'll always know what to expect — and you stay in control throughout.

    1. History & Treatment Planning

We map your story, identify targets, and set goals together — at a pace that feels safe.

    2. Preparation

You learn grounding and self-regulation tools so you can move through processing with stability.

    3. Assessment

We pinpoint the specific image, belief, and body sensation tied to each memory we'll work with.

    4. Desensitization

Using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or tones) we reprocess the memory until its charge fades.

    5. Installation

We strengthen the positive belief you want associated with the memory going forward.

    6. Body Scan

We check that the memory no longer triggers physical distress in the body.

    7. Closure

Every session ends with you grounded and resourced — never left in distress.

    8. Reevaluation

We review progress each session and confirm gains hold between meetings.
